What is family income benefit?

Family income benefit is a type of insurance designed to provide an income after death for the family. Typically this will be in a scenario where there are children. The family would want to provide a minimum level of income for the family until the children are able to fend for themselves. Thus the policy would provide that income until that time.

The family income benefit policy therefore differs from income protection which pays out after sickness, and life cover which pays out a lump sum.
