What is accident sickness and unemployment insurance?

Accident sickness and unemployment insurance is normally provided in conjunction with a mortgage. Normally available for employed people, the policy will pay out for up to a year in the event of accident sickness or unemployment. This type of policy should not be confused with income protection, which generally provides benefits for a longer period.

The principle behind the accident sickness and unemployment policy is that if you become sick or unemployed, you can still continue to pay your mortgage for the life of the plan. The accident sickness and unemployment plan will be costed at an amount per £100 of cover.
